About Dr. Curtis Varnell

We are proud to introduce our newest segment to this site…HISTORY and our contributor:

DR. CURTIS VARNELL

Dr. Curtis Varnell has taught in the public schools of Arkansas for more than 25 years. The Varnell family migrated to anti-bellum Arkansas from Tennessee so the study of Arkansas is much a study of his families own history and culture. Curtis is the author of several books including the acclaimed, “Roads Less Travelled: A study of the history, culture and people of Arkansas.” His fifth book, “Into the Outdoors,” will be released this fall. Other than studying Arkansas culture, Curtis enjoys exploring, hiking, and canoeing in the Ozarks. He, his wife Dana, and youngest son Zach reside in Paris, Arkansas and he works as a content specialist for Western Arkansas Education Service Co-op at Branch.
