Every year on the first Saturday in October, Paris hosts the Annual Mt. Magazine Frontier Day Festival. The event is a day full of entertainment, contests, and lots and lots of fun. Anyone attending the event is encouraged to dress in Frontier appropriate attire and participate in this fun filled old fashion celebration of our pioneer heritage! We would like to invite you to join us Saturday, October 5, 2013 in downtown Paris on the courthouse square and at the Logan County Fairgrounds, for our 34th Annual Mt. Magazine Frontier Day Festival.
The festivities begin at 9am with the annual Frontier Day Parade which begins at Cloyes Gear and travels East on Highway 22 to 5th street then the square fills up with antique and classic cars for the Annual Antique & Classic Car Show **on the courthouse square this year**
Opening Ceremonies will be at 10am at the Logan County Fairgrounds with the dedication of the Haguewood Prairie Civil War Battle Historical Marker.
From 10AM-5PM, the day is packed with arts & craft & food vendors, old fashioned games and contests with prizes to the winners.
A Sesquicentennial Civil War Observance with Civil War cannon & musket fire demonstrations, a battle re-enactment, Civil War encampment.
A pioneer dress contest will be held for men, women & children, along with events like the annual Box Turtle Race, Log Sawing, Nail Driving & Hay Bale Tossing.
There will be live musical entertainment on the stage inside the Main Exhibit Hall. Activities for the children are also highlighted throughout the day with old fashioned make and take crafts and educational programs in the Civil War Exhibit area.
The CASA of the Tri-Peaks, Logan County 4-H Clubs and the Rural Fire Departments will be hosting a fantasticKIDZ Zone from 10AM-5PM with many FREE or low expense activities.
The Logan County PieceMakers Quilt Guild will have a quilt show held inside the main exhibit hall at the Logan County Fairgrounds from 10-5.
The Miss Mt. Magazine Pageant will top off the fun packed day and will be held at the Middle School Auditorium at 602 North 10th at 5 pm.
