Frontier Days in Paris, 2014

What are your plans for this weekend? Need a fun get-a-way? October 4th…Round ‘em up, head ‘em out, stampede ‘em to Paris!!

The 35th Annual Frontier Days is THIS WEEKEND for celebration and fun activities, THE place for a whoop’n good time.

A parade will kick off at 9a for the festivities. Later, many of the cars parking at the square for the car show from 10a-2p along with a motorcycle show put on by the CMA’S.

Main events are located at the Fair Grounds on E 22 hwy at Airport Industrial Rd just east of Paris proper.

Beginning at at 10 a  until 7 p. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the entertainment.

A kids zone packed full of fun activities bounce arounds, train rides, face paining, coloring sheets and free ice cream, pony rides and a petting zoo.

Frontier Days Are Coming

The 34th Annual Mt. Magazine Frontier Day Festival is almost here!

Saturday, October 5, 2013. This year the festival will be at the Logan County Fairgrounds, 144 Airport Industrial Park Road & East Highway 22.


Paris hosts the Annual Mt. Magazine Frontier Day Festival every first Saturday of October. The  full day packed with events of entertainment, contests, and lots and lots of fun. Attendees are invited to dress in Frontier attire and participate in the celebration of Paris’s pioneer heritage.

Here is the schedule of events…

7:30 am:  Relay for Life 5K Race

9am: Parade followed by  the Annual Car Show featuring Antique and Classic cars on the Court House Square.

10am: Opening Ceremonies will be at at the Logan County Fairgrounds with the318

dedication of the Haguewood Prairie Civil War Battle Historical Marker.





We invite you to join Paris Saturday, October 5, 2013 in downtown Paris on the courthouse square and at the Logan County Fairgrounds, for our 34th  Annual Mt. Magazine Frontier Day Festival.

From 10AM-5PM, the day is packed with arts & craft & food vendors, old fashioned games and contests with prizes to the winners. A Sesquicentennial Civil War Observance with Civil War cannon fire, battle re-enactments, Civil War encampment. 

A pioneer dress contest will be held for men, women & children, along with events like the annual Box Turtle Race, live musical entertainment and activities for the children are also highlighted throughout the day.

CASA of the Tri-Peaks, the Logan County 4-H Clubs and the Rural Fire Departments will be hosting a fantastic KIDZ Zone from 10AM-5PM. 

The Logan County Piecemakers Quilt Guild will have a quilt show held inside the main exhibit hall at the Logan County Fairgrounds from 10-5.

The Miss Mt. Magazine Pageant will top off the fun packed day and will be held at the Middle School Auditorium at 602 North 10th at 5 pm.

Civil War Historical Marker for Logan County

THIS JUST IN!!   We are about half-way there on raising money for the historical marker! Any contributions, no matter how small, add up quickly and get us closer to the establishment of the memorial marker. For more information, read on…

The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial has awarded a matching grant to place a historical marker near the site at the corner of Airport Road and Highway 22.   The grant requires a matching fund of eleven hundred dollars.  A committee has been appointed by the Paris Area Chamber of Commerce to, not only raise the matching funds, but to coordinate the Sesquicentennial activities for north Logan County.  Committee members include Joyce Friddle, Linda Hamilton, Ty Varnell, Glenn Gilbreath, or Curtis Varnell.

Donations of any amount can be made by contacting one of the committee members, leaving the donation with the Chamber of Commerce, or by making a deposit at First National Bank of Paris to the Civil War Memorial Fund. 

Plans include dedicating the site this fall, developing a historical CD about the area and staging a remembrance and reenactment during Frontier Days 2013 commemorating  the 150th anniversary of the battle.

The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in Arkansas by sanctioning events, encouraging research and education programs related to Civil War Arkansas, and preserving the sites that witnessed the Civil War in Arkansas. The Civil War Sesquicentennial will be celebrated between 2011 and 2015.
