New Director Named for Paris Chamber Of Commerce

Tonya Baumgartner has been named as the new Director at the Paris Chamber of Commerce.

Excited to be a bigger part of helping Paris grow, Tonya is looking forward to having more tourism come for a visit.

Recently, Tonya gave some insight to her passion for Paris. “I have always worked out of town and I really love our town and wanted to be more involved. I have always worked close with the boys and girls club as a volunteer and coach. My husband was raised in the Paris Area and we got married in April of 2001. We wanted to be in Paris and after being married one year we moved to Paris and opened our own business. P & T pest control (Preston and Tonya) was our big adventure. The first few years were a big struggle for a new business in Paris but we did it! I also went to work for a cell phone company and worked from home. We later opened an office in Paris and started hiring office staff and drivers! We owned our successful business for almost 10 years before we closed the doors in 2012. I then was working all over the state and wanted to be close to home.We have 3 daughters and I my hobbies are anything the girls are doing! They all are active in sports so we do a lot of softball, volleyball, basketball and cheer.

When this position came open I received calls from a few people in town telling me I should apply. I then did a little research and decided it was exactly what I was looking for.  My grandpa and grandma were both born and raised in Paris and that is one reason I love our community so much. I never loose interest of the stories about the history of Paris! I am enjoying the position very much and I have really learned that the Paris Area Chamber is much more involved than people realize. I have already worked on the firework displays, the Santa house, the circus, economic development, the farmers market, the Eiffel tower project, the teachers banquet, the butterfly festival, the big to do on 22, meet with city council and fair board all while working on tourism and building up the chambers membership and our new face book page promoting Paris and it’s area! This is all in just 3 weeks!

I know there is a lot more in store for me and I look forward to the challenge.”

Parisarkansas.info welcomes Tonya! With her expertise we are sure that under her leadership Paris will have many new and good things to come.
